Any live gigs or bands around here?

Looking to explore the night life & my love for underground blues rock/ alternative music in Leipzig!

Sachsenpunk.de is the most comprehensive for underground music events that I've found, it's not just punk as the name might suggest. Otherwise there's a couple of facebook groups but I haven't kept tabs on them since the pandemic, one was called 'geile shows leipzig'. It was frequently used for announcements of even smaller scale DIY shows. Hope you find something you enjoy, to me it feels like the whole scene is just now slowly coming alive again :)

Bands that are significantly better live?

Main Post:

I saw the Acacia Strain live on Saturday, because they were opening up fir Dying Fetus. On albums, they're a pretty decent, but nothing special, metal core band, but live, they got the crowd to go absolutely fucking nuts, and it was an incredible experience. I don't think I'll listen to them on a regular basis, but I'll absolutely see them again if they come back.

I think Manchester Orchestra is incredible on record, but live is a whole other beast. The heavy stuff is wildly heavier and the softer stuff is so much more full feeling. Just an unbelievably good live band.

The band LIVE

Main Post:

So Live is coming to MMRBQ this weekend and I'm seeing them. I recently started listening to them and their hit album Throwing Copper: it's amazing. Can't believe I never heard of them before. Great band. I normally like metal but I could see myself listening to this great alt rock band forever. Who else knows/likes LIVE!!!!!!!

Wasn't sure if this was about the band named Live or about a live performance by The Band.

Does the band Live have a Trainwreckord?

Main Post:

Live were an absolutely huge band in the 90s, most famous for their second album Throwing Copper which featured hits like Lightning Crashes, I Alone and Selling The Drama. Yet their popularity faded over time and they aren't considered an important or influential band, outside of the aforementioned songs still getting radio play.

At first glance it seems their popularity faded over time, as each album after The Distance To Here was less successful than the one before it. But to me, V stands out as a Trainwreckord candidate. They changed their sound and lyrical style and these songs are quite cringey at times. They did manage to have one notable hit from this album with Overcome, which mostly became popular because of 9/11.

Top Comment: these songs are quite cringey at times That's just Live though. I submit the following lyric from their debut Mental Jewelry: "Mr. President I hereby pardon you of all your crimes For they are just as much mine" Cringe is kinda their brand.

Love them or hate them, Live was a really good band that made great music. Throwing Copper is still in my rotation. Secret Samadhi is underrated and over looked and The Distance.....is a solid record. What are your thoughts?

Top Comment: Picked up Throwing Copper from the thrift a week ago after seeing the album on some vinyl sites. Haven't listened yet, but excited!
